“Hello to anyone considering improving their hearing loss. Here is my story of the fantastic Audeo M90-R.

After years of loss of hearing caused by NOT using ear protection around very noisy motors I decided it was time. I met with Alastair at Hidden Hearing and discussed the many options available to me. As I’m still gainfully employed as a bus driver and I need to be able to talk to passengers, listen and talk on my mobile and enjoy some music. While I was concerned about wearing hearing aids I have found quite the opposite, now because they are difficult to see, the camouflage is so good, I now brag pointing to the aids to the astonishment of others!

I chose the top of the line Phonak and I’m glad I did. They have delivered all the features I need in my personal life as well as my business life. And so light and easy to wear and operate. Every night before retiring, I remove and clean each aid of ear wax and pop them in the charging unit, ready for the next day . Yes, they are good for a good 18 hours! Without worries. I have an app on my iPhone that allows me to tune and adjust them to my desired level. This includes Auto sense, Speech in loud noise, Music, Bluetooth streaming and best of all (an added bonus ) TV connector!. I can now hear  what they are saying without turning up the volume to the annoyance of others in the room. In summary they are wonderful and I have regained the loss to my hearing with the most comfortable aids.

I would be remiss if i didn’t mention the after sale service, Top Shelf, After 6 months the aids were adjusted to my hearing level, its seems the brain takes over and makes tiny adjustments. Meantime I have visited and met with Alex many times to have small adjustments and little problems sorted. Nothing seems to be a problem. So I’m completely satisfied with the service I am receiving and the aids I received. My last piece of advice; the aids are worth every penny paid and your satisfaction is guaranteed.. restore what you had and let Hidden Hearing be your guide your won’t be disappointed “

“Over the last twenty years I became quite deaf. Eventually I was unable to understand what people, particularly female voices, but also TV, radio etc. were saying. I could hear the sounds but couldn’t readily understand them unless I was in a quite situation and was close to the speaker. I found music annoying and disliked socializing. Not being able to readily understand female voices was particularly bad for me as I have one wife, two daughters and two granddaughters. In retrospect I now recognize that I was slowly withdrawing into myself and becoming a grumpy old man.

I tried a number of solutions including a TV sound bar that was optimized for voice and I even tried to get my wife to speak into a Karaoke microphone that blue toothed to a speaker in front of me. I tried an of the shelf hearing device ( Nuheara) that claimed to mitigate “pub deafness” but it was useless. I asked my friends with hearing aids but none thought that theirs were very useful.

I then did quite a lot of research into what could be done.

I came across the literature about the new range of hearing Aids (Phonak) with advanced capabilities for speech and consequently around 12 months ago I attended Hidden Hearing where Alastair Bacon gave me an audiometry test that revealed I was unable to hear any high pitched sounds in my right ear and was quite limited in my left ear. He suggested that I get the Audeo M90-R.

On the day that they were fitted, the first time I put them in I knew that I was going to be lucky. I could actually hear Alastair without straining to understand. On the drive home I heard the turn indicator signal, I’d never heard it before! I tuned on a tap and could hear the water flowing. My wife came home and I could hear her voice clearly. I could hear and understand my 2 year old granddaughter.

Over the last few months I have re-found my love of music and I’m amazed when I Bluetooth Spotify from my mobile to my M90-R aids. I now happily go to parties and restaurants as I am confident of being able to understand what people are saying. There has been interesting changes in my cognitive abilities and I feel much sharper mentally and I am much happier than I was before. Interestingly even after 12 months my hearing ability continue to improve, I can remember more and I am much easier to live with.”

Even if you just need your hearing assessed go to hidden hearing. Don’t put it off. During COVID I realised when I couldn’t lip read how my hearing was bad even though I wore one hearing aide in my right ear. I was missing what people were saying because I couldn’t see their lips because of the mask mandate.

The receptionist Alicia  is prompt and always is timely with answering the phone and providing the necessary documentation required.

I have researched hearing services on the Gold Coast thoroughly and I always come back to hidden hearing. They are competitive with there prices but at the end of the day they are a pleasure to deal with and do not leave you with any regrets.

They will work with your budget however will also recommend a brand and device that won’t need replacing next year if your hearing changes.

They have off street parking so getting to their business isn’t a nightmare.
